Meet Cajsa (‘Kaisa’) Isgren
Dr Cajsa Isgren BVetMed MSc CertAVP(ESO, ESST, ED) DipECVS DipECVSMR PhD MRCVS
Cajsa Isgren graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2008. Originally from Sweden, she has spent most of her life in the UK, building an impressive career in equine veterinary medicine.
Cajsa completed a residency in Equine Surgery at the University of Liverpool, earning her Diplomate in Equine Surgery in 2018, followed by her Diplomate in Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2023—making her one of the few veterinary surgeons to hold both prestigious qualifications. In 2020, she also completed a PhD focused on antimicrobial resistance in hospitalised horses. Additionally, Cajsa is an Advanced Veterinary Practitioner specialising in Equine Soft Tissue Surgery, Equine Orthopedics, and Equine Dentistry.
With a career dedicated to equine lameness, poor performance, and surgery, Cajsa has worked at leading equine hospitals in both the UK and Sweden, publishing extensively in these fields. During her surgical training, she developed a keen interest in understanding why certain injuries and diseases affect different types of horses and why recovery rates vary. This curiosity led her to pursue veterinary chiropractic training with the International Academy of Veterinary Chiropractic (IAVC) in 2022. Now, as both a surgeon and a certified Veterinary Chiropractor, Cajsa blends her surgical expertise with a holistic approach to equine health, performance, and rehabilitation.
Cajsa is available for equine visits throughout the Southwest, including Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, and Somerset. At Exmoor Equine Clinic, an independent equine practice, Cajsa and her team are passionate about delivering personalised, specialist care for your horse.
